Niece of Kublai Khan, mentioned in Marco Polo's Travels, Khutulun apparently resisted any attempt to marry her off by challenging her suitors to a wrestling match -- 100 horses against her hand. Supposedly, she died, unmarried, with 10,000 horses.
Perfect as the heroine of either a feminist revisioning of Chinese history or a pulpy adventure novel (a la Red Sonja). So why has no one written about her?
